News - Genre Conventions What is news? simply put - information about something that: -has happened -Is happening -Will happened A newspaper is a publication containing news, information and advertising, usually printed on a low-cost paper called newsprint. It may be general or special interests, mot often published daily or weekly. Tabloid - Informal and gossipy Lower demographic (lower classes, younger) Broadsheet - Formal and serious Bigger in length than tabloid -Higher demographic (higher class, older) Negative storylines in Tabloid because negativity is scientifically proven to be addictive  Broadsheets tend the be less negative (however still quite negative to a extent) Even the names of broadsheets are more sophisticated  Tabloid examples: The Daily Mail, The Daily Star, Daily Express, Daily Mirror, The Sun Broadsheet examples: The Daily Telegraph, The Times, The Guardian, The Financial Times House style = A company's ...
